MAJOR NARCOTIC SMUGGLING BID FOILED AT UDHAMPUR
08 KG OF HEROINE LIKE SUBSTANCE (CHITTA) WORTH CRORES WITH STAMPS OF PAKISTAN RECOVERED, 02 KASHMIR BASED NARCOTIC SMUGGLERS ARRESTED
In a major success continuing JKP's #WarOnDrugs offensive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances, Udhampur police under the supervision of *Sh. Rajiv Pandey, IPS SSP Udhampur* recovered *08 Kg of contraband substance* Heroin like substamce from 02 narcotic smugglers at Jakhani Chowk, NHW, Udhampur.
Giving details, Sh. Rajiv Pandey, IPS SSP Udhampur said that; during intervening night of 20/21 June 2019, a police party of PS Udhampur led by Insp. Vijay Singh Choudhary, SHO PS Udhampur under the supervision of Sh. Rohit Chadgal, DySP Hqrs. Udhampur and Sh. Rajinder Singh Katoch Addl.SP Udhampur laid a naka near Jakhani chowk, NHW, Udhampur for checking of vehicles. During naka checking, police party stopped one vehicle (Tata Sumo) bearing registration no. JK03A-6015 for thorough search. During search of said vehicle, 08 kg of heroine like substance (chitta) was recovered from the possession of 02 narcotic smugglers who were arrested on the spot. The identity of these narcotic smugglers was established as:
1. Siraj Ahmed S/O Gul Mohd. &
2.Javed Ahmed S/O Ab. Kabir Shah
both residents of Qazikund, District Kulgam.
The said narcotic consignment along with the involved vehicle was seized. In this connection, a case FIR no.290/2019 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS act stands registered in PS Udhampur and further investigation of the case is taken up.
SSP further said that Police is working on establishing forward and backward links, so that all those involved in this illegal trade could be booked under law.
